The Debate Intensive – What’s New

Hi all! Since last summer, we’ve made a few changes to our program. We’re very excited about these changes and wanted to let you know about the improvements we’ve made.

#1 – Our new name

We’ve changed our name to The Debate Intensive, and we’ve changed our social media usernames accordingly. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as The Debate Intensive, and our website is now debateintensive.org. You can also contact us at our new email address, office@debateintensive.org.

#2 – Introducing The Debate Intensive at Oregon

The reason for the name change is that we’re announcing a new program: the Debate Intensive at Oregon! Our 3-week Core Session (June 23 to July 14) and 2-week Focus Session (July 14 to July 28), our two most popular programs, will now be held at the University of Oregon. This change in location will enable us to host more students than we were previously capable of, plus the campus is absolutely beautiful.

Students will be living in Earl Hall, located next to our classroom building, Straub Hall, where lab will be held each day. Meals are served in Carson Dining Hall. Read more about camp life at The Debate Intensive here.

The Core Session and Focus Session combined will constitute our 5-week intensive, our most rigorous and cost-effective program. Other than the change in name, The Debate Intensive Core Session (6/23 – 7/14), Focus Session (7/14 – 7/28), and Five-Week (6/23 – 7/28) programs feature the same stellar curriculum as last year’s 2018 San Jose Debate Intensive, but with curricular improvements based on feedback from our alumni.

#3 – We still offer camp in San Jose

In addition to five weeks of camp at the University of Oregon, we are hosting The Debate Intensive at San Jose at San Jose State University from July 28 to August 11.

This program will be smaller than our Core and Focus Sessions and offers a shortened version of our Core curriculum. This year’s Debate Intensive at San Jose will be ideal for students interested in a smaller camp environment or students who are unable to attend our Core session in Oregon.

Like last year, students will be living in the Campus Village 2 dorms, and tuition covers meals in the Spartan Dining Commons. Read more about camp life at The Debate Intensive here.

We’re excited for you to join us at the University of Oregon for Summer 2019!

Registration for camp opens on November 15 at debateintensive.org/sign-up. Subscribe for updates here to receive an email as soon as registration opens!
